The ASEAN Seminar on Multidisciplinary Care for Children with Mobility Impairment (AMCM), the opportunity to learn and achieve a higher standard of medical treatment for the children with movement disabilities in ASEAN from international expertise.
AMCM IN BRIEF
Children with cerebral palsy (CP) experience difficulties in physical movement and the number of children with mobility impairment in South-east Asia is 10,000,000 cases.
The key to successful treatment for CP children is effective approaches from a multidisciplinary team which requires professional experience, special expertise and good clinical management with a lot of input from parents or caretakers. The right approaches from experienced experts will encourage these children to seek their own values and improve their quality of life.
Zy Movement Foundation, since 2008, has been in collaboration with renowned local and international medical institutes with related expertise, working in all dimensions to improve the quality of life of these children to facilitate them towards independent living.
The AMCM is an opportunity for representatives in ASEAN community to share their challenges, and exchange knowledge among the multi-disciplinary teams in Neuromuscular medicine, Orthopedics, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Rehabilitation medicine and related fields to enhance professional skills, treatments for patients with mobility impairment and preventative technique by non-surgical / surgical process.
The AMCM Milestone
The 1st AMCM - a successful 1st AMCM was held at Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (QSNICH), Ministry of Public Health, Thailand in 2015, with a good response from 229 participants from 7 ASEAN countries under the theme of Hip Management in Cerebral Palsy Child.
The 2nd AMCM - with the theme : Management of foot & Ankle in Cerebral Palsy was held at Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, Malaysia from July 13th - 15th, 2016 with a good response from 180 participants from 5 ASEAN countries.
The 3rd AMCM - shared medical knowledge under the theme: Scoliosis and Hip Dysplasia in Children with Mobility Impairment combined with Enabling Village Tour and Parent’s Workshop - Back you up - The Journey through Spine Surgery was held at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore from July 6th - 8th, 2017 with a good response from 200 participants from 3 ASEAN countries.
The 4th AMCM - in collaboration with The Asian Prosthetics and Orthotics Scientific Meeting (APOSM 2018) during November 7th-9th, 2019 which we successfully gathered almost 300 specialists from 23 countries on the conference and 50 parents of Children with Movement Disabilities in Thailand to learn and share knowledge of treatment and management of Children with Movement Disabilities who have needs for Prosthetical and Orthotical.
The 5th AMCM, as part of the Continuous Professional Development Academic Series, aims to provide insightful and informative knowledge as well as a forum for the exchange of ideas, a chance to network with like-minded colleagues and friends, hoping to bridge the gap between doctor guidelines and patient preferences under the 5th AMCM with the theme of Multi-Disciplinary Approach to manage Child Mobility Impairment : Patient Centricity with Age Categorization, Date : August 21st-23rd, 2019 in collaboration with Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (for Healthcare Professionals, August 21st - 22nd) and Rajanukul Institute (for Parents, August 23rd), has successfully bridge the medical gap of 12 countries, 100 medical professionals participated.
